Nori Sushi is a Japanese restaurant in Nanaimo. They also welcomed to let the team to locate the box. Also, it became late to post this notice (I am so sorry!!!), but the store itself hosted a Fundraising Dinner on March 29th (Tuesday) for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief. The great owner decided to donate ALL THE SALES of the special dinner starting 16:30 to 21:30!! Before the fundraising dinner night, they had full reservations and there were many people come in without reservation that night!! Thank you for all those who come in the stores for the dinner!! And, the total sale of the special dinner by Nori sushi was……
over $3,000!!!!!
And, they left us all the sales to donate to Red Cross.
How cool the owner can be!!
It is very frustrating that I cannot find any other words, but
Thank you very very much for Nori Sushi from bottom of our heart!!
I also appreciate that Nori Sushi’s support made all of us motivated to be committed to fundraising!!

Sushi Eh is a Japanese restaurant in Nanaimo located in Hammond Bay Centre. The owner is little shy but very friendly Japanese man. Some of our team members work in this store too!! The store also supported our project and allowed us locating the box in the store.
In addition, the owner personally made a donation of……
$2,000!!!!!
Yes, he is the fantastic man! The amount of donation is significant, but also please feel the heart of the owner!! Thank you sooo much for your support and donation!!!

A New Store Open!! in University Village/Harewood Mall

When the donation box team visited there, the store was not open yet, but the owner friendly started to talk to the team. And he suggested the donation box team to come back when the store is open!!! He was willing to help our project!
Thank you so much your help!!!

Donation Box Team got Supports from NEMO sushi, Tomo sushi, and Orz Bubble Tea House!!!!

Okaaaaay, it has been a long time to post but it does not mean that we have not done anything!! We were crazy busy! and it turned out that we almost came to finish our project….. but still there is so much to tell! So, I will go back on track and tell you our glory of historical moments and our strong supporters!!
In our project, the last team to introduce you is the donation box team!!
First, in order to attain attention as much as possible and to make recognizable, they made cute creative donation boxes using plastic bottles (of course we are environmentally friendly) with little Japanese flags. They are small enough to be located close to the casher at any stores! Also, yes they are smarty donation box team!! Beside the bottle, they create a note for all donors to inform what our campaign is for!

When the boxes were ready to hand out, their next task was NEGOTIATION!!! Yes, they had struggled in the first place as we did not have an official support from Red Cross Canada. As many Japanese do not have cars, a group went around Nanaimo by car and others…..WALK!!! and stop by many stores as much as they could. In the beginning, they did not know how to start talking to the managers and owners, but what they actually encountered was warm welcomes from many restaurants in Nanaimo!! Those restaurants supported us by locating our donation box were…
NEMO sushi in Terminal
4-1451 Estevan Road
Nanaimo, BC V9S
(250) 591-2121

While donation team was first time for negotiation and very nervous, the owner welcomed them and allowed them to locate the box! Thank you so much!

Tomo Sushi on Bowen Road
106-1808 Bowen Road
Nanaimo, BC V9S
(250) 716-1005
When the group has visited, the owner already posted the statements for the mourning. We realized that we have to share the feelings! Thank you for locating the box and your support!!

Orz Bubble Tea House (close to Country Club Mall)

The owner was very supportive and right away he approved the team to locate the box! When the team took the box out and tried to put at the cashier table, a customer put $5 right away!
Also, later on, when the team visited Orz Bubble Tea store to collect the box, he also personally donated us $ 200!! How thoughtful the owner is!!! Thank you so much for your understanding and support!!
We have more Nanaimo supporters coming up!!!

Total Donation Amount on Mar. 19!!!!

Total CAD$1519.60!!!!!!

Oh My Goddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its almost double the amount we collected on the day before which was combined from country club and TOMO Sushi!!
Wow, wow, wow…….
IT IS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t think of anything to say other than THANK YOU ALL SO MUSH FOR THE DONATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This result will for sure motivate our project team and encourage them to keep on going forward!!!!!!!!

Those who donated didn’t just donate but seemed willing to know what is actually going on in Japan.  They want to know the information so that they have a better understanding on this disaster and want us to share how we feel about the disaster. People in Nanaimo are sweet, warm and of course SUPER!!!!!

We are also proud that we tried so hard to promote our project thorough different types of media and by communicating with local people to gain their awareness of what is happening Japan right now and so we need their help. Even though some of our team members are not yet 100% comfortable with speaking in English with native speaker, they tried their best to send local people here in Nanaimo their messages and real voices from people in Japan.
Good Job for all the team members!!!!! We couldn’t have collected this much without any one of you.
You gouys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canadian Red Cross is with Us!!!!!!

Good morning everyone!!

I have an important news to tell you today.
We finally got a backup support from Canadian Red Cross  few days ago!!

We actually have been negotiating with them about what they can do for us and what we are supposed to do for them if we got the support.
Fortunately, they are actually willing to help us out and so negotion went really smoothely.
So now we have a support from Canadian Red Cross.
All the donation we grecieve will go to Canadian Red Cross, and Canadian Red Cross will transfer the money to Japanese Red Cross later on.

We would like to say thank you to Canadian Red Cross for all your understanding and full full support for us.

Also, thanks for those who were involoved in this task, Song, Yoshi, and Mai!!

We combined the donation from contry club and Tomo Sushi 1808 Bowen Road today because the collection box at Tomo sushi was aleady full!!
It's surprising that the box's got aleady filled up this quick!! Thank you so much for people who donated at Tomo Sushi for us and for the restaurant to let us place the collection box for Japan!!
I can't say anything other than "thank you."

The donation collected at the mall is also coming back to increase!!
It's gotta be thanks to the smiles of the group members who are in charge of "donation" as a whole.

Well, we will keep on going!! Stay strong Japan!! We are with you!!

Today's activity of fund raising!! No.2

This is the pocture of meeting. They are so seroius at the time.
They always have someting to discuss so that they can improve how to promote this project in the local community.
These three are...
from the left Anna, Kwon, Sachi, and there is a girl back there she is Satomi.
They are all so passionate about this project so they always have a meeting. Yup, IT IS "meeting" they say.

This is when the leader of dropping collection boxes off, who is Toshi, was being interviewed by one of the TV program.
We forgot to get the information on the programm, so if somebody knows, please let me know!!

This is when the two girls were talking to one of the girls who came to help us.
These two girls were...
from the left, Anna in Yukata which used to be Pajama to go to sleep. and Yurina who is looking good in Pink!!

The last picture!! He's just donated for Japan!! Thank you very much!!

So this is how it looks at the mall!! We, all the staff members who were there, had a lot of fun having conversation with local people and tried our best to tell them what is happenning in Japan right now and why we are doing this.
Thank you for coming to the mall!!
Thank you for coming to donate!!
And thank you for coming to give us and Japan huge smiles!!
We all appreciate it a lot!!

And, the group's done super good job!! Thank you so much!!
Those who were not in the photoes, it'll be your turn next!! :)

Our Team Leader!!
